How to use VerseKeeper
What VerseKeeper Does—and Does Not Do
  1. VerseKeeper saves Scriptures and your own notes and reflections.
  2. It keeps the Scriptures from a sermon or Bible lesson together and in order.
  3. It does not explain or interpret Scripture.
  4. It does not create devotionals or spiritual content.
  5. It does not record or transcribe sermons.
  6. It does not require an account or sign-in.
  7. Your journal stays on this device.
  8. Because there is no account or cloud syncing, download a backup from Settings now and then, and keep the backup file somewhere safe.
  9. Backups help protect your journal, but they are not an absolute guarantee — the backup file could also be lost.
Keep a verse
  1. Tap Keep a Verse from the Home page.
  2. Type the reference, like John 3:16. The verse text fills in for you.
  3. Add a note or a tag if you want. You can always add these later.
  4. Tap Keep. Your verse is saved on your device.
  5. Don't know the exact verse yet? Save a placeholder and find it later.
Take notes during a sermon
  1. On Home, tap Start Sermon. Add the title, speaker, or date if you like.
  2. As the preacher shares verses, keep each one. They stay grouped together.
  3. Missed one? Tap “Missed a Verse?” to mark the spot and keep listening — add the reference after the message.
  4. When the message ends, tap End Sermon.
  5. You now have a Sermon Notebook with every verse in the order you kept them.
  6. Come back anytime — tap the sermon on your Home page or the Sermons tab.
Write your reflections
  1. Open any Sermon Notebook and scroll to Personal Reflection.
  2. There are three prompts: Main Lesson, One Thing I Learned Today, and My Next Step.
  3. Write your own answers. These are always yours — nothing is written for you.
  4. Your words save on their own as soon as you tap away.
Mark a verse to study later
  1. Inside a Sermon Notebook, use Study Later to add a verse you want to revisit.
  2. When you've studied it, tap the circle to check it off.
  3. This keeps a simple list of what you still want to look into.
Find anything you've kept
  1. Tap the magnifying glass at the top of the journal.
  2. Search by reference, a word in the verse, a note, a tag, or a speaker.
  3. Results show under Found in Your Journal. Nothing you've kept is ever lost.
Sections and favorites
  1. The tabs at the bottom sort your verses: Sermons, Group Study, Personal, and Favorites.
  2. Open any verse and tap the heart to add it to Favorites.
  3. Change a verse's section anytime by tapping its section chip.
Keep a backup
  1. Your journal lives on this device and works fully offline. No account needed.
  2. To save a copy, go to Settings and find Keep a copy.
  3. Download a backup (.json) — a full copy you can keep somewhere safe.
  4. Or download a readable copy (.md) — your verses and reflections as text, for reading or printing.
Install it on your phone
  1. iPhone: open the app in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
  2. Android: open the app in Chrome, tap the menu (⋮), then Install app or Add to Home screen.
  3. VerseKeeper now opens like any other app — full screen, and it works offline.
Getting updates
  1. When a new version is ready, a small banner appears at the bottom.
  2. Tap Refresh and you're on the newest version.
  3. Your saved verses and notes are never touched by an update.

VerseKeeper began with a simple problem: the verses that mattered kept slipping away — written in a margin, typed into a phone, jotted on the back of a bulletin — and by midweek they were gone. This is a quiet place to keep them, and to find them again whenever you need them.

It’s built on a few simple beliefs: that Scripture always comes first, that the journal should stay calm and uncluttered, and that it should only ever hold your verses and your words — never explain them for you.
